Pune: In a powerful step toward eliminating cervical cancer in India, FICCI FLO Pune, in partnership with Ayugen Biosciences and Roche Diagnostics, organized Shield Her Future – Cervical Forum 2025, an awareness initiative focused on cervical cancer prevention, diagnosis, and early screening.
The event brought together some of India’s foremost healthcare leaders and oncologists to amplify the message that cervical cancer is both preventable and treatable – if detected early.

The forum’s Guest of Honour, Dr Gauravi Mishra, Deputy Director at the Centre for Cancer Epidemiology, Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai, emphasized,
“We know the precise cause of cervical cancer – persistent infection with high-risk HPV. Yet India still accounts for nearly one-fifth of the global burden. Routine screenings starting at age 30 can detect pre-cancerous conditions, enabling effective treatment.”
A highlight of Cervical Forum 2025 was the expert panel discussion moderated by Dr Sandeep Sewlikar, Head of Medical Affairs, Roche Diagnostics.
Cervical Forum 2025: Panelists included
- Dr Harshad Parasnis, Gynecological Oncologist
- Dr Milind Dugad, Former Vice President, POGS

Dr Parasnis explained the importance of Pap tests and HPV testing, which can detect changes in cervical cells and the presence of high-risk viral strains.
“Even women who have been vaccinated must undergo regular screenings after age 30,” noted Dr Milind Dugad.
“We need to dispel the myth that cervical cancer is a death sentence,” stressed Dr Aarti Nimkar. “With timely intervention, it is highly treatable.”
“In an age of advanced diagnostics, cervical cancer deaths are inexcusable,” added Manish Punglia, Director, Ayugen Biosciences. “This forum aims to empower women through education and access.”
Anita Agarwal, Chairperson, FICCI FLO Pune, remarked, “Our chapter actively drives change in education, livelihood, and health. With 21 chapters across India, FLO is committed to equipping women with life-saving knowledge and resources.”
Shield Her Future – Cervical Forum 2025 marks a pivotal step in the collective fight against cervical cancer by promoting access to HPV vaccines, routine testing, and awareness across urban and rural communities.
